Glass tile restoration project for Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, Municipal Museum in The Hague,
commissioned by OCW Den Haag.
The architect H.P. Berlage made extensive use of natural light throughout the Municipal Museum.
The rooms underneath the lecture hall are lit with daylight through the use of an optical phenomenon incorporated in glass tiles.
The glass tiles needed replacement and Vrij Glas reproduced the original colour, a champagne-yellow tone with an occasional bubble, just like the original VERA-LUX tiles that were installed by the company Emile Sanders.
The Vrij Glas foundation has previously restored other types of historical architectural glass by Berlage, and others.
